Report of the YCS/YSM Training Programme at Gulbarga

August 1st & 2nd, 2013 : The YCS/YSM animators and the office bearers training programme was held at Sugyana pastoral center on 1 and 2 August 2013 at Gulbarga. 16 animators and 30 students participated in the programme.

The programme began on August 1, 2013 at 7.30 with brief inauguration. Bishop Most. Rev. Robert Michael Miranda was the chief guest for the programme. Fr. Charles Menezes the Nation YCS/YSM Director was the resource person for the training programme. Fr. Stand Lobo the Vicar General of Gulbarga, The diocesan YSM president Sagar and secretory Miss Sweetha were present on the stage. The programme began with the prayer conducted by Miss Keerthi Bendre the Animator of St. Mary School Kotnoor. Fr. Victor Vas the diocesan Youth Director welcomed the chief guest and the guests. After lighting the lamp Bishop enlightened the hearts and minds of the animators and students of the YSM with his speech. He asked everyone to thank God for giving a life. Later he said we must know ourselves every well then we will be able to change our life and also the life of others. So that one day we all will be able to guide each other and build a better society. Miss Sweetha the diocesan secretory thanked bishop and all who were present there for the programme.

Fr. Charles Minezes the National YCS/YSM secretory took the introductory session and gave them the explanation on YCS/YSM. He explained the methodology of YCS/YSM and objective of it. Later we concluded the session with a prayer.

On 2nd at 9.00 the session began. Fr. Charles asked the student to list the problem faced by the student. After listing the problems the students were asked to elaborate point and create the story on it. Numbers of problems were brought out by children and animators. Fr. Charles clarified some of the problems as students raised it.

After a short break Fr. Charles focused on the cell meeting and cell life. Here he explained them how to conduct the cell meetings and its procedures. He told them to use methodology that is See, Judge and Act when the cell meeting is conducted. He explained it with many examples in order to understand well.

He told that the teachers have a great responsibility. All the students are coming from different background, so all cannot be weighed equally. They need to be recognized as they are and guided properly. He said all the teachers need to be animators but all animators need not be teachers

He suggested that once in a week meeting should be conducted. There should be year plan for all the school. Twice a year evaluation must be done. Proper planning should be done for the smooth functioning of YSM.

Later animators and students had a separate meeting. Students were asked to write their responsibility as a leader in the school. All of them were made clear about their responsibility.

The animators had a sharing about the YSM. Some of them expressed that they are newly appointed. Most of them said that it is a good movement where children get values. The animators expressed that they need a syllabus for the whole year and a certificate should be given to the students at the end of the year.

At the end Fr. Victor the YCS/YSM director of Gulbarga thanked the resource person Fr. Charles the national YCS/YSM Director for his valuable time spending with the student and animators. And also he thanked all the animators and students for their support and their participation. With a prayer the training programme came to an end
