YCS / YSM 3rd Day Regional Convention

The three day convention came to an end today with august rally organized by the YCS/YSM movement of the Karnataka region at Udupi. K. Annamalai, Police Superintendent, Udupi flagged of the 4 mile Procession from Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi to St. Mary's English medium school, Kannarpady, Udupi.

A Eucharist celebration was offered in Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi with Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop, diocese of Udupi, being the main celebrant along with 9 other priests. In the homily delivered by Fr. Ronald veigas, said when we transform with changed attitudes within us, we tend to choose the path of truth and life.

There is so many violence and this is because of the ego in us. Only when we kill the ego in us then we lead the life of true happiness.

Our movement puts forth the truth that you cannot get the change outside. It starts within us. Only then we see the changed and transformed society around us.

The purpose of this movement is accomplished when you the students find and identify who you are and your responsibilities in the society.

While inaugurating the procession, K. Annamalai, said change in the society is expected from every individual. Hence through the gathered youth of 1500 students here, let there be 1500 changes in our society.

Under the supervision and support of the police superintendent and his team the procession concluded peacefully and successfully.

The valedictory ceremony took place in the grounds of St. Mary’s school, kannarpady, Udupi, with Dr. Gerald Lobo, bishop, diocese of Udupi presiding the function.

Dr. Gerald in their presidential address said, "Today's education is giving more importance in providing standard education. They lack social messages. Hence we are losing humanity in people these days. We must give ourselves for the society one day as we get a lot of support from them.

Abdul Kalam had quoted "through unity brotherhood and love for country, we can establish a developed India."

We must also have faith and fear in god. Whichever religion we might be we all have one god, and we must pray to him to bless and guide us in our daily life.”He then congratulated every person being reason for the success of this convention.

Denis D'Sa, PRO, Diocese of Udupi, Sr. Irene Tauro, Bangalore, Raymond D’Souza, Minority monitory Commission, New Delhi, Martin P., President regional ICYM, Karnataka, Ida D'Souza, Member, Taluk Panchayath, Udupi, Alphonse D'Souza, Secretary, Pastoral council, Diocese of Udupi and representatives of the YCS/YSM office bearers were present on the dais.

Fr. Henry welcomed the dignitaries and delegates, Elson D'Souza compeered the entire Program and Fr. Mari Joseph, Secretary, KRCBC, Youth Commission proposed the vote of thanks.
