The Organizing Committee Meeting

The Organizing committee meeting of Regional Youth Convention of Karnataka Regional youth Commission was held at Catholic Centre Mysore Diocese, Mysore on 30th July.

Highlights of the meeting

๐ Regional Youth Convention of Karnataka, “Yuvajanotsava” is held once in two years
๐ Last convention was held at Belthangady Diocese in 2012. Total number of gathering of youth for first two days was 1500 and last day 7000
๐ This year convention is held at Mysore, on October 24th-26th, 2014. Total gathering of youths expected for first two days 2000 and last day 15000
๐ Preparation done so far are as follows
๐ Prayer cards for the Yuvajanosthav have been sent to all the diocese.
๐ Place and date for the convention is been decided as St. Philomena’s college Ground, Mysore on October 24th to 26th 2014.
๐ Theme of the RYC is ‘Joy of the gospel to enlighten and enliven’
๐ Logo for the Convention is finalized
๐ Website is been launched for the Registration
๐ Budget of the Convention is finalized.
๐ Committees are formed.
๐ Theme song lyrics are finalized and published in the website and in social media for the music composition.
๐ The work which is yet to be done are as follows

• Presentation by Raymond D’Souza
• He explained that why big gathering of youth like Convention is required. It’s to unite our youth as one, not only socially but also spiritually. In olden days conventions were only for information purpose. Today convention is to meet people from different places, to get proper guidance. We, as an organizing committee needs to work hard to make this convention a successful one.

• Bishop Henry D’Souza spoke about, what are the expectation of the RYC?. Youths are great agent of change. They must be transformed into leaders of tomorrow. This is why we have convention. This convention will be collaboration of faith. It must bring our youths closer to Jesus Christ to be loyal to Catholic Church. Youth must be motivated to join politics, join Public Service, to be a farmer, as Entrepreneurs and to serve the church.

• When floor was open for suggestions One member suggested to add the objectives of Convention
• Bishop Thomas Vazhapilly Suggested that we need to start working at root level.
• Sr. Margaret told that it would be helpful if Bishop sends letter to all the Superiors of the convent and Rectors of Seminary to get the numbers of CRI. She suggested Bishop to attend CRI Conference at Karwar on August 24th.

• VIP’s for the Convention are finalized. Mr. Robin Utthappa, Nandan Nilakarni, Catholic MLA and MLC, Cardinal
• Mr.Sudhir suggested for the Special invites for the convention are Jenilia D’Souza (Film Actress) and Frida Pinto.
• Names for the Awards are yet to be finalized. DYD’s are requested to send the names of youths who are excellent.

Three youths names suggested Priyanka, Aaron and Jobi Cherukar from Mysore
• Jovita Suggested it would be great if we awarded the one who were part of the movements then achieved excellence.
• Fr. Anthony Raj DYD of Mysore told that we have asked the permission of the schools for the accommodation of youth. Priest, Sisters, VIP’s and Resource person accommodation is arranged in Catholic Centre and ODP.
• Fr. Marie Said Registration Fee for the Convention is fixed. Rs. 130 for three days if registered online. Rs.150 if registration is at the Venue. Rs.30 for the last day if registered online. Rs.50 if registered at Venue.
• Youths suggested that Peace Rally Must be held on last day as a part of youth convention.
• Excursion of the convention had difference of opinion. It would
• Fr.Marie Joseph RYD told that Quotation for Catering Shamiyana sound and light and Logistics are finalized. As Santhosh quoted lowest price of Rs.160 for the full day Meal.
• Most Rev. Thomas Vazhapilly Bishop of Mysore concluded the meeting saying that we must concentrate how to execute these ideas.
• Martin Regional Youth President thanked everyone.
