Yuvajanotsava - 2014

1st preparatory meeting on 30th March 2014 in OPD, Mysore

30th March, 2014:
Most Rev. Thomas vazhapilly Bp of Mysore, Most Rev. Henry D’Souza, Bp of Bellary, Chairman KRCBC Youth Commission Msqr. Marie Joseph, Mysore, Fr. Bucket education Commission Secretary Mysore Fr. William PRO Mysore, Fr. Stany Almeda Director, ODP, Mysore, Fr. Anthonyraj DYD Mysore, Dr. Jose Mathew, Ronald Castolina Mangalore, Fr. Mari Joseph RYD and DEXCO of Mysore, REXCO of Karnataka, Dexco of other diocese and volunteers from Mysore diocese totally around 50 members.

Most Rev. Henry D’Souza, Chairman KRCBC Youth Commission and Bishop Of Bellary, particularly mentioned and invited the youth, saying, We should reach out to not only to urban youth but also to all rural youth. The Regional Convention in Belthangadi had about 6,500 youth for the upcoming Regional youth Convention in Mysore we should expect at least 15,000 delegates.

The registrations are done through online. For the first 2 days the delegates are 2 youth leaders one Girl one Boy from every parish of Karnataka and diocesan office bearers and selected members from the Regional catholic youth movements. On the 3rd day all the youth in any number can participate from entire Karnataka. The Theme of the convention is,
‘The Joy of the Gospel to Enlighten and to Enliven’
Thrusts: Youth to Youth Evangelization, Empowerment, Leadership and Media Competency
BP. Henry asked Youth to focus on:
• Bringing the youths to Jesus.
• Youths must express their loyalty to church.
• Youths must become leaders of church.
• Youths must become political leaders.
• Youths must join the public services.
• Youths must join the enterprises like business, production etc.

Opinions of inputs about the programme
As the meeting began, the suggestions for the convention were welcomed so the youth delegates gave their opinions, Arun said more time should be given for the interaction with resource persons. Jacob said that we should take youth for site seeing after the afternoon session of the 2nd day. Cyril also supported in allowing youth for site seeing since Mysore is a historical and Tourism place and then Santhosh added to have cultural programs by youth for this Martin supported to have cultural programs from each diocese so that each diocese youths will have the opportunity to perform.

Opinions about Resource people
Bp. Henry asked the youths to suggest the name of the resource person for the convention and he also added the point that to remain far from controversies or negativism in any manner.
Youths suggested some names like:
Dr. Jose Mathew,
Fr. Divya Paul,
Mr. Benny Prasad (musician),
Br. Mario (from potta),
Mr. Tonny Peter, IPS / KLE’s Officers,
Mr. Nandan Neilkeni,
Any politicians,
Mr. Robin Uttappa,
Mr. Oscar Fernandes,
Mr. Immanual (from Infosys proposed by Fr. William)
Bp. Henry also suggested about an idea of youth speaking to youth.

Opinions about Music Band
Bp. Henry said that the music bands should be from Karnataka and it should be in kannada which should be refreshing and should be kind of testimony and witnessing to our Catholic group.
Many suggested Mysore Youth Choir (Mysore band),
Br. T K George, Fr. Franklin for praise and worship
After every session the music bands has to animate the youths based on our faith.

Opinions about what more to be added
Apart from regular events youth suggested Testimonies from youth, Taize prayer They even suggested that people from outside Karnataka should also to be invited like Bishop Leo Cornelio (National chairman), Archbishop Clumus (president of CCBI) and additionally even they suggested that Asian Youth Day message video footage of the Pope Francis can be telecasted to our youth, if possible we should try to get Pope Francis video message for the Convention.

Organization of the committees
Fr. Mari Joseph spoke that both REXCO and DEXCO members along with diocesan directors, are been called for the meeting on 21st and 22nd June, 2014 to discuss on organization of committees.

Bp. Henry said that both REXCO and DEXCO members along with other youth association like BOSCO, Jesus youth, AICUF YOUTH FOR CHRIST etc., should be called for Council meeting.

Youth said that youth achievers can be recognized and awarded. Bp. Henry said that we are doing it and we will continue it .One of the member said that can we get money from One Sundays collection but Bp. Henry said that we should not ask money from Sunday collection.

Bp. Henry said that all collections for convention should have receipts and for all given money they should be sent to the bank account and no cash payment for more than Rs.500 should be paid through cheques by cutting TDS. No money should be received without receipts.

Most Rev. Thomas Vazhapally (Bishop of Mysore diocese) suggested opening separate account for Mysore convention. Bp. Henry said that account will be in Bangalore bank and so receipts will be sent for sponsors. Bp. Thomas Vazhapally and many fathers said that separate account should be opened exclusively for yuvajanotsava as ‘KRCBC Yuvajanostava’.

Sponsers
Bp. Henry said that no house to house collection .Fr Mari Joseph gave the food budget which was of about 18 lakhs.
Sound system, Lightings system, Pendals, Chairs, Water, Toilets for all this the estimated total budget was about 40 lakhs.
Income for all this can be got through,
1. Adds from big colleges
2. Banners from banks, colleges
3. Sponsors for meals from various organizations, individuals
4. Asking government to sponsors
5. Seeking help of local politicians

Caritas India=Rs 5 lakhs through ODP
Mysore diocese = Rs 10 lakhs
Registrations etc = Rs 10 lakhs
Bp. Henry Dsouza= Rs 10 lakhs
From other sponsors= Rs 10 lakhs
Bp. Henry said that we should start to search of Sponsors and donations to provide better facilities for youths.

Even about changing the Theme song was also discussed and Bp. Henry requested Fr. William to prepare new theme song. Bp. Henry said to both REXCO and DEXCO members and even various associations must mobilize to have necessary participants even from non-catholic institutions and premises.

Jesus Youth Promised to get currently 300 youths but asked get 1000 youths

Bosco Youth Last time 300 youths but this time will be more

AICUF Promised about 2000 youths from Bangalore and Mangalore
Bp. Henry asked to get all rural and remote area catholic youths should be mobilized from both Mysore and Mandya. Fr.Anthonyraj said that they had started collecting data from various youths staying in Hostels Boarding’s and Rooms etc,.

Fr Mari Joseph gave his experience of organizing Belthangadi convention that concelebrated mass from 13 Bishops was well appreciated and so we should mobilize our youths to attend mass and even rally was also successful one so we should also organize rally according to time and energy. Bp. Henry said that the rally should involve youths with singing, slogans, chatting. Arun suggested that in rally for youths in traditional dress according to their diocese.

Bp. Henry said to think about March fast or powerful input session.
The next discussion was on the accommodations, since Mysore is one of the best locations with many facilities, like sanitary, bathing, water facilities etc. He also included the point that we should treat the people with dignity. . Fr.Anthonyraj said that we can arrange St. Matheyas School, Philomennas college, ODP, and catholic centre etc for accommodations and also said to have mobile toilets in venue. One of the youth suggested about family stay but it was not accepted because of transportation risk.

Bp. Henry said the need of volunteers at least 300, it should include some young priests, seminaries, sisters, can be majority from Mysore, and from various other youth organizations.

Finance
The Registration fee in Belthangadi was 2 days Rs 100 Last day Rs10
For this convention online registration Rs.150 for three days offline Rs.200, for the last day online Rs.30 offline Rs.50
Spot Registration should have limited number, first come fist serve.
