Karnataka ICYM and YCS/YSM Regional Executive Committee (REXCO)

Training and Meeting On 09-02-2014 in Regional Pastoral Centre, Bangalore 9th February 2014 Bangalore : The first ICYM and YCS/YSM REXCO meeting was held at Regional Pastoral center, Bangalore, on 9th Feb 2014. The meeting started at 10:15am by prayer service. Thereafter Fr. Mari Joseph, RYD welcomed all the newly elected REXCO members and briefed about the REXCO meeting. Ms. Jasmine the Joint Secretary read the minutes of the previous REXCO meeting. For this REXCO meeting 15 members (11 ICYM, 4 YCS/YSM) were present.

The first session was by Mr. Sunny Gudino the Jesus Youth former Regional coordinator, who spoke on LEADERSHIP. He initiated the following points. Leadership is a call, Qualities of leadership, Leadership is a style, he covered the points Leader should be a good Communicator, capacity of Planning, quality of Temper Management, should know Public Appearance.

After the short break for tea, the 2nd session was by Fr. Harry Pereira the Regional BCC Secretary. He gave more knowledge on ‘The leader’ is one who knows the way, Shows the way, and Guides the way. His talk wrapped with qualities of the Leader has to win over Participants, Time Management, and Owning Responsibility.

At 12:45pm all of us proceeded to the Chapel for the Holy Eucharist followed by lunch. Afternoon sessions began at 2:30pm. Fr. Mari Joseph explained about the responsibilities and limitations of the REXCO members and had open discussion and opinions about different issues. The clear suggestions are given about the language Kannada to use in RYC 14 and asked all the REXCO to practice to speak in Kannada during Convention in Mysore. The RYC14 ongoing preparations are shared and preparation in Mysore diocese also enlightened. By the request of the members the meeting continued without a tea break. .

Fr. Mari Joseph requested to respond to all the E-mail mobile calls and messages immediately which are sent by the RYD and REXCO members to work actively for the fourth coming ICYM Convention. There were some suggestions like, Ms.Jovita requested to fix the date for REXCO meeting and send the message one month ahead. All the members should respond to the messages and E-mails Immediately and the REXCO meeting report should reach as early as possible. The circular or letter goes from Regional office should have seal and signature so that it will valid for documentation.

Ms. Maria said we have to reach to the unreached; we have to make effort to bring youth who are not ICYM members so that they may become members of the ICYM movement through this convention experiences.

Mr. Cyril shared his views for fourth coming convention should have a good publicity. The Convection should have more activities than only talks.

Lastly Fr. Mari Joseph concluded saying For the convention the initial fund rising strategy can be in the form of donation coupon. To have family atmosphere in REXCO asked all the members who are present for this meeting to call or send a message quoting that ‘we missed you for the meeting’ to all the REXCO members who are not able to come for this meeting.

Ms. Frivita Regional president YCS/YSM said that before the Bhopal YCS/YSM Convention there should be one meeting held, so that we come to know the numbers of members will be coming and accordingly we can plan the programmes.

Next ICYM REXCO meeting date is fixed; it is on 14th June, Saturday 2014, in Mysore and 15th June Sunday, 2014, ICYM council in Mysore. At the end of the sessions Mr. Martin ICYM Regional President thanked all. The meeting concluded through a prayer and tea at 5.30 pm.
