YCS/YSM General Council and Leadership Training Program 2015 - 2016

Yuvamitra the Commission for Youth of the Diocese of Shimoga had convened the 4th General Council of YCS/YSM 0n 11th -12 July 2015 in view of the election of YCS Central Council (DEXCO) for the year 2015-16. The Council meeting started at 6.30 pm invoking God’s blessings with a prayer service. The diocesan bishop Most Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao S.J was the president and Mr. Francis D’Cunha, the head Master of Padua College, Mangalore, Miss Rosalia Cardoza the NEXCO, Mr. Alwyn Francis ICYM President, Shimoga, Cynthia Dias REXCO and Fr. Ronald Veigas DYD Shimoga were the gusts on dais.

Most Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao S.J addressed the students with his session on the topic “The Need of YCS/YSM to the Students in the Modern Era”. In his session he pointed out the challenges the students face at this growing phase and guided them to be aware of the reality of life in and around them, reflect on the reality of life and build a life of integrity. The group dynamics were conducted by Mr. Alwyn, Miss Rosalia and Miss Cynthia. The YCS/YSM students were initiated in to the dynamics of the movement with a session “Advertisement of Life” by Mr. Francis D’Cunha.

The day second 12th July 2015 began with Meditation and Holy Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Ronald Veigas. In his sermon he invited the students to take Jesus as the leader to build life and His Kingdom by being his disciples. The 26 animators who arrived for the formation session were welcomed by the DYD Fr. Ronald and they along with the students had the sessions on the topics “ The Nature and Methodology of YCS/YSM” and “Review of Life” by Miss Rosalia and Mr. Francis D’Cunha. After Lunch break while the elections were conducted for the Central Council 2015-16, the animators had a session on “The Role Animators in YCS/YSM”.

The formation session came to an end with the concluding program. Fr. Richard Pais the Deputy Director of SMSSS in his concluding message he enthused the students to be agents of change and distributed the certificates to all participants. He congratulated the new YCS Central Council Members.
