Report For Karnataka Regional 16th ICYM Council & ICYM Election

Place: Sevalaya Pastrol Center, Dharwad

First Day: 5-12-2015
The Holy mass was offered by the Belgaum Bishop Peter Machado followed by the Inaugural function around 10.30 am with the Formal Welcome speech by the President, Martin. Sr. Lovely and Cynthia led the youth into Prayers.

Jean Christy, Spokesperson, presented the Minutes of the 15th Council meeting, which was proposed by Leo from Bangalore and seconded by Martin. The august gathering was made more auspicious by the message of His Lordship Bishop Peter Machado for the Youth to stay out of the 3 C’s - Comfort, Convenience and Compromise - to be efficient Leaders of Tomorrow. Boy rep Cyril proposed a vote of thanks

After the tea break, a session on Leadership and Group Discussion was conducted by Fr. Susai Raj, followed by Lunch. After this, there was the Youth talk to Youth, an Interactive Sharing session led by Rexco’s,

Martin: Shared his personal experience as to how ICYM had given him the opportunities like overcoming stage fear and facing larger crowds. He also explained as to how he imbibed the quality of learning tools like Video editing, Photoshop and so on. He also expressed his feelings about having many friends from different parts of Karnataka.

Cyril: Shared as how ICYM helped him to move into the field of politics and how it helped him to conquer his dreams.

Mariya: Explained how ICYM has trained her in organizing and planning strategies, which she learnt through the youth convention that took place in Mysore.

Brayan: Mentioned that his life was uplifted from the day he joined ICYM both in YCS/YSM and REXCO. He regretted that he would have to leave on attaining the age of 28, which would not allow him to further continue in ICYM.

Cristy: Shared her joy and enjoyment from the family visits and friendships, which she experienced and said she would be missing the REXCO team further.

Jyovita: Spoke about her experience in ICYM moments like YCS/YSM, REXCO and the encouragement and support in ICYM, which she received and even shared her experience in Teje prayer.

Cinthya: Was immensely happy to share what she learnt from ICYM and about her self-confidence, which she developed during her phase of travelling and meetings and other ICYM activities.

Anil kote: Spoke about his experience and life during the past 6 years in ICYM.

Alwin D’Souza: Shared about the opportunities and experiences in ICYM and how he will be utilizing those experiences in his field of Film direction.

After the tea break, Fr Mari outlined a clear view about the youth analysis, CAP-India, National Convention, WYD-2016. It was followed by the Evening Rosary along with Music and exciting Games. After dinner, there was Sharing Session from New DEXCO members, in which Viyon suggested that youth should be enlightened more about ICYM constitution and its rules. Salomi said the whole day she spent at the convention was useful in making many friends and that the programs were good.

Second Day: 6-12-2015
Began with the Morning Prayer and followed by the Holy Mass. After the breakfast,there was a session by Mr. Jose from Bangalore in which he gave us a brief idea on the Internal Rules and Regulations of ICYM for Election. After a brief recess, The KARNATAKA REGIONAL ICYM ELECTION 2016-17 started around 11 a.m. The election was conducted under the assistance of Secretary of KRYC Fr. Mari Joseph, Mr. Jose ex-member and alumni of ICYM.

From 11 dioceses of Karnataka, there were 45 members voting right to elect the new council member. The electors comprised of Diocesan Presidents, Boy representatives, Girl representatives, Diocesan directors and Lady Animators.

The elected members for the council 2016 &17 are as follows,

After the election, a farewell function for the Ex-REXCO’s took place. Fr Mari recalled the services of the outgoing Rexco members and their attitude, especially his personal experience of working with them. As a token of love and gratitude, the Ex-Rexco’s were honoured with mementoes and shawl by Fr. Mari, Mr. Jose and Sr Irene.

The Ex-REXCO’s in turn showed their love by honouring Fr. Mari, Sr Irene and Mr. Jose individually. Soon after the honoring, the handing over of the Light from the Past Rexco’s to New Rexco’s took place. Then was the oath taking ceremony and photo sessions. After the lunch break, there was the meeting between both present and past Rexco’s to bring back the old Rexco’s and recognizing their contributions for the ICYM.

This meeting was conducted by Fr Mari and Mr. Jose at the initiative of Martin the Ex-President. Many suggestions were made by the alumni body for this association, in which Representatives of previous batch of Rexco’s took part. After a long discussion, all the members finally decided unanimously that the alumni group of Karnataka Regional ICYM will be called as “ABIDE” which name was proposed Fr. Mari Joseph. Mr. Jose was nominated as president of ABIDE and the Coordinator will be the immediate Ex-President.
