Report of MIJARC Journey in Kallathipura
Every movement is the movement of new beginning. The MIJARC is another exceptional movement which is greatly enjoyed by the youth of St. Francis of Assisi Church kallatipura. It’s all started with the one step taken by the Karnataka Regional Youth Commission in collaboration with MIJARC Asia and supported by DKA Austria implemented the project “Child and Youth Oriented Agro-ecological Initiatives for Sustainability and equity in Peasant Communities” at St. Francis Assisi Church, Kallathipura in Chikmagalur diocese. It is a great privilege facilitated by Fr. Paul Machado the local parish priest who willingly associated with the Regional team.

Ms.Deepthi Sophia the MIJARC coordinator from Karnataka Region initiated the project to be implemented the diocese of Chikmagalur with the help of regional director as well as local parish priest. The MIJARC Asia group visited the parish along with the regional team in July 2022, and inaugurated the project in St Francis Assisi Church. The local youth had the privilege to know, learn and study the fundamental rights and fundamental duties of the citizens prescribed in the constitution of India. The deep understanding of the studies enabled the youth to take pledge to enlighten the minds of the community as well as the surrounding people. It was a five weeks programme to study the fundamental rights and duties of every citizen in the constitution. A questionnaire was prepared to create awareness among the youth on rights and duties, and asked them to respond by answering them. A seminar was conducted to the children on the fundamental duties. Various competition were held for the children such as drawing competition, drawing on nature; cleaning the surroundings , especially the market places, bus stands and hospitals attracted the attention of the people. Children planted saplings in the garden, whereas the youth planted the sapling in the hillocks.

In the holy season of Advent, Christmas Sambrama was organized by the MIJARC team. Carlos were sung, birth of Jesus was depicted through a skit, Christmas message was given and some entertaining cultural program was presented, at last Christmas gift were shared. The International Women’s Day was celebrated in the parish to highlight the women prominent role in the family, community and society at large. Games were conducted for the women, prizes were distributed and some were felicitated and honoured. Thanks to Karnataka Regional Youth Commission and the MIJARC Asia Youth Movement for bringing life in the parish through various activities. Hats off to MIJARC Asia.
