World Day of Elderly and Grandparents
“Let us honor them, neither depriving ourselves of their company nor depriving them of ours. We may never allow the elderly to be cast aside.” To this earnest invitation of Pope Francis, to make it a joyful event between the young and the elderly, the director Fr. Lourd Raj, the animator Sr. Magdalene , Sr. Molly, A few youth from the regional and DEXCO team of Bangalore Arch diocese visited Chesire Home, White Field, Bangalore on 16th July 2023, and expended the whole day creating a hearty feelings in the elderly in Chesire Home. The director spoke on the importance of the day. The youth performed a few programs. They loved the meal we shared with them. Sr. Magdalene spoke to the elderly on the significance of the day and ending it with a meaningful song and the youth conducted a few activities for the elderly who participated and enjoyed every moment in the company of the young. In spite of the aches of their ages they all kept alive and active till the evening until we departed. So the day was celebrated remembering our own by rendering a respectable recognition for taking the lead and playing a starring role for faith formation and for remaining a power house of prayer and light house of guidance. Assured the elderly that they are loved and wanted who someday had been somebody’s mother and somebody’s grandmother now in the old age home deserted by the dear and near. They expressed pleasure, delight and as sign of gratitude stretched out their hands and blessed all the youth for offering this moment of bliss in their company. So made the day of the elderly a blessed day as the care taker sisters extended a space of co-operation and warmth.
