ICYM Hosts Bangalore Reach Out 2018

28th January, 2018: Reach out 2018, the annual sports event held at Maria Niketan grounds, Bangalore witnessed youth groups from 40 different parishes all over Bangalore coming forward to be a part of the event either by participating in the games organised or by cheering and motivating their youth groups and friends.

The games that were organised for Reach out 2018 were:
• Soccer
• Volleyball
• Throw ball
• Boys relay
• Girls sack race

The registrations started at 9:00 am. At11:00 am Fr Divya Paul, youth Director of ICYM led the gathering in prayer ,followed by the felicitation of Fr. Justin-the newly appointed joint secretary of ICYMBangalore , Mr Anoop – player of the Bangalore Soccer club and Mr Sunil Dennis the newly elected ICYM national treasurer.

The Reach out 2018 commenced with the soccer match in which 30 youth groups participated. Annunciation Church were declared the winners and St Mary’s church the runners up.

About 11 youth groups participated in the volleyball match. Sacred heart Church,Silverpura were declared the winners and St Pius X the runners up.

8 youth groups participated in the throw ballmatch.St. Joseph’s church secured the first place and Infant Jesus church were declared the runners up.

The girl’s sack race had 6 youth groups participating. Infant Jesus Church secured the first place and St Francis Xavier’s church bagged the runners up.

18 youth groups took part in the boy’s relay. St. Francis Xavier’s church were declared the winners and St. Anthony’s church were declared the runners up.

The event was graced by the bishop of Bellary, Rev Fr. Henry D’Souza and Fr. Deepak K.J, National Youth Director. Rev Fr. Henry D’Souza addressed the gathering about the Career Advancement Program (CAP) and inspired them to become better human beings.

Gratitude was expressed to the referees by honouring them with momento’s .Winners were awarded with medals and certificate. Infant Jesus Church bagged the championship trophy of Reach out 2018 with a cash prize of Rs.10, 000 and St. Francis Xavier’s church were awarded the runner’s up trophy with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000 .

Reach out 2018 came to an end with the vote of thanks delivered by Sharon Mascarenhas.
