Yuvotsava II 2018

15th July, 2018 : YUVOTSAVA II 2018 of Kajubag deanery of Karwar Diocese was held on Sunday, 15 th July 2018 at Halga Parish premises under the guidance and leadership of Kajubag Deanery Dean Rev. Dr. Nirmal Kumar Miranda and the Parish Priest of Halga Parish Rev. Dr. Felix Lobo.

The Event highlighted the theme “Faith oriented leadership” in order to motivate the youth to take initiative in all the church activities and also in the activities that benefit the larger society.

The day’s programme began with the Holy Eucharist presided over by Bishop Derek Fernandes along with other priests - Rev. Dr. Nirmal Kumar Miranda, Rev. Dr Felix Lobo, Rev. Fr. Royston Gonsalves Diocesan Youth Director, Rev Dr . Stany Pinto Deanery Youth Co-ordinator, Rev. Fr. Lawrence D’Souza, Parish Priest of Kajubag Parish Rev. Fr. Salvador Rodrigues Director of Diocesan Communication Centre, and Rev. Fr. Vilet Fernandes.

After the Holy Eucharist, the youth gathered for the day’s event which was presided over by His Lordship Bishop Derek Fernandes. The event was also graced by 7 priests and other dignitaries.

After the opening remarks by Rev. Fr Felix Lobo the day’s session began with a prayer song sung by the youth of Halga, which helped to invoke blessings of Almighty God on the event. Miss Wilma Corte welcomed all the distinguished dignitaries and the participating youth.

Delivering his presidential address, Bishop Derek Fernandes appreciated the efforts of the youth in organizing such an event and called upon the youth to gear up with firm determination to face the challenges of good and bad things that come their way. He also specifically pointed out how to go about dealing with such obvious challenges. Continuing with the agenda the participants set themselves up for the first session of the day. Rev. Fr. Salvador Rodrigues, Director of Diocesan Communication Centre dealt the topic “Faith oriented leadership: future leaders in the church and in the society” with PowerPoint presentation and video clippings. The session was very enriching and touched the heart and mind of the participants.

After the first session, the programme was suspended for lunch break. Post lunch session was yet another enriching session of the day and Cmdr. A.R.B. D’Souza dealt the topic “Master of Ceremony, its importance and techniques and tips for public speaking”.

After two successive learning sessions, the participants teamed up parish wise for a mind-blowing cultural entertainment. The team wise programme was as follows:
- Kajubag Parish Youth: Dance
- Baad Parish Youth: Comedy Skit
- Halga Parish Youth: Opera on Prodigal Son
- Angadi Parish Youth: Skit

The cultural event energized the whole group and set them ready for the next points on the agenda.

New elected deanery youth Coordinator Rev Dr Fr. Stany Pinto took over the command of conducting the election for new office bearers of the Kajubag Deanery Unit.

The newly elected office bearers are as follows:

Jennifer D’Souza - Secretary (Halga)
Melinda D’Souza- Joint Secretary (Kadra)
Sonal Fernandes - Treasurer (Kadra)
Vanija Veigas - Liturgy Secretary (Halga)
Merlin Fernandes - Cultural Secretary (Halga)
Alistar Barreto - Sports Secretary (Angadi)

With the conclusion of the election session, Rev. Fr. Royston Gonsalves, the Diocesan Youth Director delivered a motivational speech and requested the youth to hold group discussion on few questions in their respective parish units.

Mr Michael Rodrigues, the Diocesan Youth President motivated the youth to join hands in the diocesan youth mission and shared the future plan.

The event was concluded with the heart touching vote of thanks proposed by Rev. Fr. Nirmal Kumar Miranda and a thanksgiving hymn.
