ICYM Shirthady Unit organized SODHNECHI PAVLAM

12th August, 2018 : ICYM Shirthady Unit organized SODHNECHI PAVLAM – Youth Conference - 2018 on Sunday 12 August 2018 in view of bringing together the youth of Shirthady Parish under the guidance of Parish Priest Rev Fr Francis Crasta. The Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (C.C.B.I) observed and celebrated National Youth Sunday with the theme - Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment on Sunday 5th August 2018 across India. To mark this auspicious occasion, ICYM Shirthady Unit members celebrated National Youth Sunday by taking part in the Holy Eucharistic Celebration as well by conducting Sunday Liturgy. Rev Fr Richard Dsouza, Director Canara Communication Centre (CCC) Diocese of Mangalore and Rev Fr Francis Crasta, Parish Priest Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Shirthady celebrated the Holy Eucharistic Celebration and specially prayed for the youths. Breakfast was served for the youths after the holy mass.

The event commenced with a prayer song led by Carol Pinto and team. Rev Fr Francis Crasta Parish Priest presided over the function along with Rev Fr Richard Dsouza, Jaison Periera Shirthady President ICYM Central Council Mangalore Diocese, Francis Monteiro President ICYM Moodbidri Deanery, Roydon Fernandes Secretary ICYM Moodbidri Deanery, Herald Dsilva Animator ICYM Shirthady Unit, Wilfred Pinto Vice President and Lita Pereira Secretary Parish Pastoral Council were the dignitaries of the programme. Chintan Lobo President ICYM Shirthady Unit welcomed the gathering. The inauguration was done by Rev Fr Richard Dsouza along with other guests in an innovative way by arranging the flowers to form the spelling – ICYM. Rev Fr Francis Crasta gave his presidential message and stressed the importance of involvement of youth in the church and also in the society. Jaison Periera Shirthady was felicitated for being the President of ICYM Central Council. Preemal Dsa Secretary ICYM Shirthady Unit proposed the vote of thanks. Valenteena Castelino compered the programme.

Rev Fr Richard Dsouza was the resource person for the day who spoke on the topic ‘Ami Yuvazan Kai Asav – Where are we The Youth’. Rev Fr Deepak Noronha Assistant Parish Priest Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Shirthady visited the programme and extended his good wishes to the youth. Rev Fr Francis Crasta and Avin Vaz taught action songs and conducted games and other group activities. The programme was wrapped up by serving lunch. Around 65 youths participated. By the time Youth Conference had ended, all the youth were strengthened spiritually and had donned the armour of God to protect themselves from the temptations of the world. ‘SODHNECHI PAVLAM’ event gave participants a unique opportunity to cerebrate and was a thought provoking and fun filled programme.
