9th to 11th May 2014: The youth commission of the Diocese of Shimoga had organized “Yuvajanotsava” a youth convention in the diocese after 10 long years from 9th to 11th May 2014 at Mary Immaculate School, Shimoga. There were around 450 youths participated in this Youth Convention. The theme for this convention was “Healthy families, in building healthy society, united youth, in the footsteps of Jesus”. The program highlights were 1. Teachings of the Church 2) Interactive workshops 3) Youth Masses and Mediations 4) Awesome Music Band by Youth 5) Taize Prayer worship 6) Group Dynamics 7) Cultural Evening 8) Friendship and Fellowship. Most Rev. Francis Serrao the newly ordained Bishop of the Diocese of Shimoga inaugurated the youth convention 2014. The National Secretary for Youth Commission and Director of ICYM Rev.Fr.Franklin D’Souza, the National Chaplain of YCS/YSM Rev.Fr. Charles Menezes, KRCBC secretary Rev. Fr. Marie Joseph, Mr. Raymond D’Souza ICYM National Advisory body member and the Diocesan Youth Commission secretary Fr.Ronald Veigas were the dignitaries present at this inaugural function. The other esteemed guests were Most Rev. Dr. Henry D’Souza, Chairman KRCBC Youth Commission and Bishop of Bellary, Mar. Joseph Arumachadath, Bishop of Bhadravati.
