Lenten Night Vigil
On Saturday, March 8 th , 2025, the Youth Commission of Shimoga (ICYM, YCSYSM) organised a
Lenten night vigil at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Shimoga, in collaboration with the Legion of
Mary, SVP, and the Diocesan Service of Communion. Led by Fr. Franklin D’Souza and Dn.
Nishanth D’Costa, the vigil consisted of a Taize prayer, Way of the Cross, Holy Eucharist, and
adoration. The ICYM Sacred Heart Cathedral Unit began a Lenten spiritual Night with the
Rosary, seeking the guidance of Mother Mary. The Sacred Heart youth, in collaboration with
Dexco, prepared the Taize prayer, which was led by Dn. Nishanth. Fr. Paul Anand Prasad SJ, Fr.
Franklin D’Souza, and Fr. Venil D’Silva assisted with confessions. Various faith-associated
movements, including ICYM, YCSYSM, SVP, Legion of Mary, DSC, and Dexco units, facilitated the
way of the cross. Fr. Franklin and Dn. Nishanth provided musical accompaniment and led
healing prayers for the youth, couples, and all who gathered. The Holy Eucharist was celebrated
by Fr. Franklin, who expressed his gratitude to all who had gathered to pray in the silence of the
night during this Lenten season. The event was a graceful and blissful experience, and all who
participated were blessed to have spent time with the Lord.
