A one-day national level workshop on “Transformational Leadership”

A one-day national level workshop on “Transformational Leadership” was organised by the Xavier Board of Higher Education in India, Karnataka Region in association with St Joseph’s College of Commerce Bengaluru and Karnataka Regional Youth Commission (ICYM) on the 8th April 2022. Most Rev Dr. Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary and Chairman, KRCBC – Youth Commission, Karnataka graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The workshop was also patronized by Dr SrArpana, Principal, Mount Carmel College Autonomous, Bangalore and the President, Xavier Board of Higher Education in India - Karnataka Region, Dr Fr Charles Lasrado, Principal St Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bangalore and Fr Lourd Raj, Regional Youth Director, KRCBC -Youth Commission, Bangalore. Dr Sr Teresa, the Secretary-General, Xavier Board of Higher Education in India, was the Guest of Honour.
The workshop was hosted by St. Joseph’s College of Commerce and was attended by 138 students from 21 colleges across South India. The workshop aimed at giving the participants the opportunity to reflect upon transformational leadership and its challenges in today’s context and find ways to build it through being servant leaders, themselves, just like Jesus did.
The event started with an invocation by the choir from Mount Carmel College and the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. MsMritsa Judith, a student of JyotiNivas College Autonomous ignited hearts with the Word of God.Dr Fr CharlesLasrado, principal, SJCC, welcomed the gathering and facilitation done to the Chief Guest by Dr SrArpana. This was followed by the inaugural address by Rt. Rev Henry D’Souza, the Bishop of Bellary. And the inauguration ended witha vote of thanks by Prof. Paul Raj from the Department of Psychology, JyotiNivas College Autonomous and Secretary, Karnataka Region, Xavier Board of Higher Education in India.
The first session was on ‘A Faith Anchored Approach to Transformational Leadership’ by Mr Jose Jacob, Founder and CEO, IntegroInfotech& Consulting. The speaker insisted on different leadership styles as found in the bible and their impact on each budding leader.
The second session was conducted by Fr Anil D’Sa, the Youth Director, Archdiocese of Bengaluru. The speaker engaged the participants with activities and videos on leadership. After the lunch break, the third session was conducted by Mr Sujeet Jha, Director, L& D and Corporate Relations Career Shaper where he encouraged the young participants to take part in the workshop through discussion and sharing ideas.
The workshop was wrapped with the Taizeprayer, a unique meditative prayer filled with musical repetitions. The prayer included periods of silence, meditative readings from scripture, prayers of praise and intercession and frequent repetition of simple chants based on scripture. It created a meditative environment for participants. Each of them had a chance to go to the front and venerate the cross that was placed on the stage.
The programme wrapped up around 5 pm.
