YCS/YSM Regional Council
The YCS/YSM Karnataka Region, in collaboration with the YCS/YSM Mangalore
Diocese organized Council Meet on October 15 2023, at Bajjodi, Mangalore. The
Council began with an inspiring hymn sung by the YCS student council, expressing
gratitude and seeking divine guidance and it featured a warm welcome and a
comprehensive report reading. There were 34 participants who attended the meeting
comprise of five dioceses and other diocese such as Belgaum, Bellary, Gulbarga
and Chikmagalur were obsent for the council meeting. The Regional Director, Fr.
Lourd Raj, emphasized the YCS's pivotal role in shaping the future of the ICYM and
lauded Karnataka's representation at both national and state levels. He stressed the
importance of motivating and engaging all members, regardless of level of their
current participation. He also urged everyone to submit concise activity reports with
photos for the website, underlining the significance of timely updates. Great
appreciation was extended to all directors for their hard-earned efforts for a job well
done.
The region took up the agendas in the second part of the council meeting. The
council planned as well as added some of the regular fixed activities of region like
RSLTP, Councils and the training programme for animators and students to the
annual calendar. The region also presented to the council one of the important
agendas that to organize the second regional YCS/YSM convention in the region.
The diocese of shimoga has accepted to host the convention in their diocese. The
council therefore discussed the part of preparation such as feasible date, theme,
logo, number of participants and registration etc. in the council.
Participants expressed happiness and gratitude, recognizing the potential to
strengthen Karnataka through collaboration. They identified and addressed various
issues, witnessed active participation, and observed significant progress in the
meeting's conduct, appreciated to continue in a similar manner.
One of the RTS members, Augustine, expressed gratefulness for all participants'
generosity and kindness to be present for the meeting. Fr. Lourd Raj extended
heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all directors, animators, and council members
for their valuable cooperation and unwavering support.
