22nd August, 2017: ICYM Bellari Diocese organised orientation programme at Lingasugur

22nd August, 2017: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Lingsugur Deanery organised an Orientation Programme for the youth of Lingsugur Deanery on 20th August at St. Ann’s school, Hutti. Rev. Fr. Herald Pinto, the dean of Lingsugur deanery, Rev. Fr. Alphonse Ligoury M. A. the parish priest of Sacred Heart Church Hutti, Sr. Meena of St. Ann’s Convent, Hutti, Sr. Christine, Lingsugur Parish, Fr. Raiyappa, the assistant parish priest of Kawtal, Rev. Fr. Prem D’Souza, OFM, the Diocesan Youth Director, Mr. Stany the ABIDE member along with 75 youth were present for the programme.

Programme started with a prayer and lighting of the lamp at 11a.m. Rev. Fr. Herald Pinto, introduced the days programme and Rev. Fr. Prem D’Souza, OFM gave the keynote address. In his address he said that youth are the strength to the society and church and that they need to play important role in the church’s growth through service. The inauguration was followed by formal session. The first session was taken by Fr. Raiyappa, the assistant parish priest of Kawtal. He spoke on “The Role of Youth in the Church”. In his talk he insisted that the youth have to cling to Jesus and be like Jesus and protect the Church. Rev. Fr. Balraj, the assistant parish priest of Maski handled the second session on “The aim and the goal of youth”. In his talk he said that the youth today need to have aim, responsibility and work hard to reach their destination (goal). He motivated the youth to be active in fulfilling their dreams by being good. Soon after the second session Fr. Prem D’Souza explained the nature and function of ICYM. After the lunch zonal election was conducted. Fr. Chowrappa, Fr. Balraj and Fr. Raiyappa were nominated to conduct the election. The elected members for Lingsugur zone are,

After the election confessions were held. The orientation programme came to an end with solemn Holy Eucharist presided over by Rev. Fr. Prem D’Souza, OFM. The homily was preached by Fr. Herald Pinto. Fr. Anthony, Fr. Raiyappa and Fr. Chowrappa were the concelebrants. The dean of the deanery thanked all the participants for the success of the programme. The Diocesan Youth Director thanked the Dean for all the arrangements. Ms Shanti ICYM Member compered the programme.
