ICYM Mariashram Unit celebrates National Youth Sunday and organizes Yuvamilan - 2018
5th August, 2018 : Indian Catholic Youth Movement Mariashram Unit celebrated National Youth Sunday on 5th August 2018 during 7:30 am mass at Mariashram Church. The Conference of Catholic Bishops of India ( C.C.B.I ) observed and celebrated National Youth Sunday with the theme Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment on Sunday 5th August 2018 across India.
To mark this auspicious occasion, ICYM members of Mariashram Unit celebrated National Youth Sunday by taking part in the Holy Eucharistic Celebration as well by conducting Sunday Liturgy. Rev Fr Edwin Mascarenhas Parish Priest celebrated the Holy Eucharistic Celebration and specially prayed for all the youths. ICYM members offered offerings in large number and celebrated the Holy Eucharistic Celebration in a sacred way. On behalf of National Youth Sunday ICYM Mariashram Unit organised Yuva Milan - 2018 for all the youth of the parish. The main aim of the programme was to gather all the youth and encourage them to be a part of the organisation by enlightening them about the good impact on their overall development and to provide good career guidance.
The programme commenced with a prayer song. Alisha Fernandes President of the unit conducted the programme. Cloudia Dsouza welcomed the gathering. Rev Fr Edwin Mascarenhas Director of the unit inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp along with Antony Monteiro Vice President, Maria Dsouza Secretary Parish Pastoral Council, Superior of Jyothi Nilaya Convent Sr Leena Fernandes, Sr Severine Dcunha, Jovel Fernandes Treasurer ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Ancita Carol Dsouza Vice President Karnataka Regional Youth Commission were the dignitaries on the dias.
Jovel Fernandes addressed the youth about the impact and the advantages by involving in ICYM which would help them in their overall development like leadership qualities, self confidence and thus encouraged the youth to be a part of this organisation. Ancita Carol Dsouza and group conducted various games for the youth. The next session was taken over by Sir Raju Dsouza Kidoor , who spoke about the career opportunities to the youth especially in the government sector and importance of good education in their lives.
Total of 55 youth participated in the programme. Ms Sonal Monteiro, Secretary of the unit proposed the vote of thanks. It was a very essential and useful programme for the youth conducted by the unit which included fun, knowledge, entertainment, games. All the youth enjoyed the programme and a day to remember.
