New ICYM Office Bearers Elected for Shimoga Diocese

7 August 2017; The General Body Meeting of ICYM – Shimoga Diocese was held on 30 July 2017 at Chaithanya in Shimoga in view of forming the new Executive Council. There was a Leadership Training Program before the election as a part of the formation of the youth. Rev. Fr. Richard Pais the Executive Secretary of SMSSS, Shimoga animated the session on the topic “Youth of today and Opportunities”.

Rev. Fr. Ronald Veigas, the DYD of Shimoga explained the gathering about the forth coming Synod of Bishop on Youth and took a session on the topic with a power point presentation. The synod is scheduled for the next year October 2018 in Rome. A lot of preparations are going on all around the world for the Synod. As a preparation for this important event in the life of the Church, Vatican has sent a Questionnaire to be discussed with the youth to make the youth get involved in the synod on youth. The youth were helped to fill in the questionnaire. There were 65 delegates from 13 parishes represented their units.

The second part of the programme was the general election for ICYM DEXCO 2017-2018. The former DEXCO conducted elections. The new team of DEXCO was formed they are:

The new office bearers took oath during the Holy Eucharist officiated by Msgr. Felix Joseph Noronha, Vicar General of the Diocese of Shimoga. The outgoing DEXCOs were gratefully felicitated.
