Within the diverse fabric of the Puttur Diocese, a young scholar’s dreams were ignited by the legacy of a visionary leader. The Malankara Catholic Youth Movement (MCYM) honoring the first Bishop of the diocese, Geevarghese Mar Divannasios bestowed upon this deserving student a scholarship to pursue higher education.

“On January 12, 2025”, a solemn ceremony marked the passing of the torch. His Excellency, Most Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Makarios presented the scholarship to the eager student, a symbolic gesture that echoed the late Bishop’s unwavering faith and commitment to education. Inspired by the Bishop’s unwavering faith, the student vowed to not only excel in academics but also become a beacon of hope in the community. Armed with the scholarship, they initiated a journey of learning and discovery, determined to uplift others and spread the light of knowledge, just as Bishop Divannasios had done during his lifetime.

As the student’s journey unfolded, it became clear that the legacy of the first Bishop lived on, not just in physical structures but in the hearts and minds of those he had touched.
