Gumta and Voviyo Vers Training

On October 31st, 2024, YCS Udupi Diocese Council and Thottam Unit jointly organized a day-long Gumta and Voviyo Vers Training Program at St. Ann’s Church Hall, Thottam. 120 students attended the workshop, which connected youth with their Konkani heritage and culture. Fr. Denis D’sa emphasized preserving Konkani traditions during the inaugural session, while chief guest Mrs Meena inspired the youth with her presidential address, followed by a musical performance by her family members, Gumta training by Jasmine Jennifer Lobo and Master Delton Lobo, and Voviyo and workshop by Mrs Catherine Rodrigues. This workshop ended with the presentation of Gumta, Voviyo and Vers by various teams. Udupi Bishop Rt.Rev.Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo delivered an enlightening message during the valedictory ceremony, urging the youth to cherish Konkani culture. The program concluded with the YCS anthem and applause, leaving a profound effect on the participants.
