YCS Vanamahotsav: Greening the Future

On June 7, 2025, the Young Christian Students (YCS) unit of Ferar parish, Mangalore diocese, organized a meaningful tree plantation drive at St. Francis Xavier’s church, Ferar, as part of the RSLTP action plan. The program commenced at 8.30 am with a brief inauguration, where the parish priest, Fr. James D’Souza, together with YCS animator Mr. Mark Pereira, planted the first sapling. Fr. James addressed the YCS members, highlighting the importance of youth in environmental protection. Following the inauguration, the YCS members enthusiastically planted 150 saplings of various species throughout the church campus. Their effort was supported by eco-conscious volunteers, who guided the process, making it a collaborative and enriching experience. More than just a plantation drive, this initiative was a mark of teamwork and environmental responsibility and a spirit of joy among the youth. This event reflected a commitment to environmental stewardship under the RSLTP program.
