ICYM Madanthyar unit organizes Kabaddi and Lagori Tournament – 2019

6th January, 2019 : ICYM Madanthyar unit organized inter ward Kabaddi and Lagori tournament on Sunday, 6 th January 2019 at Sacred Heart P. U College grounds. The programme commenced at 10.30 am. Rev. Fr Basil Vas - Parish Priest, Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Madanthyar presided over the programme and the chief guest of the programme was Rev. Fr Lancy Lewis – Superior, Asha deepa, Rev. Fr Alwyn Dsouza and Rev. Fr Alwyn Dsouza SJ - Assistant Parish Priests of Madanthyar Church, Rev. Fr Jerome Dsouza – Principal, SHPU College, Leo Rodrigues – Secretary, Madanthyar Parish Pastoral Council, Vivian S Fernandes – President, ICYM Belthangady Deanary, Ronson Veigas – President and Avil Dsouza - Sports Secretary, ICYM Madanthyar unit were the dignitaries on the dais of the inaugural programme.

The programme was inaugurated by lighting up the lamp by the guests. Ronson Veigas – President, ICYM Madanthyar unit welcomed the guests and the gathering. Rev. Fr Basil Vas addressed the gathering with his presidential speech and wished best of luck to all. Avil Dsouza - Sports Secretary proposed the vote of thanks and Lavita Fernandes – Secretary, ICYM Madanthyar unit compered the inaugural programme.

Events like Lagori for women and Kabaddi day night match for men were organized successfully. 18 teams among 22 Wards participated actively. Mother Theresa ward won the Lagori match and Our Lady of Dolours ward won the Kabaddi match. Winners were awarded with cash prize and trophies. All the ward gurkars and ward representatives extended their support to this event.
