ICYM Mariashram unit celebrates 72nd Indian Independence Day and the feast of Assumption of Blessed Mother Mary

15th August, 2018 : Indian Catholic Youth Movement Mariashram unit celebrated 72nd Indian Independence Day and the feast of Assumption of Blessed Mother Mary on 15 August 2018 at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Talapady. The celebration began with the Holy Eucharistic celebration and the ICYM members took active part in the liturgy, followed by hoisting ceremony of our national flag. On the occasion of the 72nd Indian Independence day all the parishioners gathered at the church grounds and the tricolor flag was hoisted by the parish priest - Rev. Fr Edwin Mascarenhas along with Antony Monteiro Vice President Parish Pastoral Council and the respect was conveyed by saluting at the national flag and singing Vande Matharam. Rev. Fr Edwin Mascarenhas in his presidential speech addressed the gathering about the importance of the day and our duties towards the country as the citizens of independent India. Cloudia Dsouza welcomed the gathering. Alisha Fernandes ICYM Unit President compered the programme. The programme concluded by singing national anthem and sweets were distributed to the gathering.
