Minutes of the 22nd ICYM Karnataka Regional Council Meeting

9th December, 2018 : The 22 nd Karnataka Regional ICYM Council Meeting was held on 9 th December 2018 at the KROSS Centre, Bangalore.

The meeting was preceded by the Holy Eucharist, celebrated by Most Rev. Dr Henry D’Souza, the Bishop of Bellary Diocese and Chairman - KRYC at the KROSS chapel. Thereafter the meeting commenced with a prayer service led by the Regional Vice president Mr. Prajwal Lopez and then symbolically inaugurated with the watering of a plant by Most Rev. Dr Henry D’Souza.

Rev. Fr Faustine Lobo, KRBC spokesperson was the key note speaker for the day. Regional President Mr. Jai Joseph welcomed the gathering and called for the quorum and the meeting commenced with the quorum. Mr. Charles, Joint Secretary read the minutes of 21 st Council Meeting. Incorporating the clarifications and corrections received from the council, the report was approved by the members of the council with Mr. Jaison Pereira, DYP - Mangalore initiating the approval of the report and Mr. Gagan, DYP -Shimoga seconding it. Sr Jessy Rita BS, Regional Youth Lady Animator, Mr. Cyril Prabhu, Regional Youth Coordinator, Regional Youth President Mr. Jai Joseph, Regional Vice President Mr. Prajwal Lopez, Treasurer Mr. Sanjo were present.

The meeting was followed by a key note address stressed on the “Involvement of youth in the larger society” delivered by Rev. Fr Faustine Lobo who urged the youth to come out of their comfort zone and to be the value based leaders.

Chairman Bishop’s Message:
Addressing the youth leaders of Karnataka, Most Rev. Bishop Henry D’Souza, Chairman of KRYC shared his experience on theYouth Synod which was held recently and called upon the religious to accompany the youth as per the outcome of the synod.

Synodal Father’s Document:
Ms. Jesvita Quadras, the National President of YCS/YSM, read out the letter drafted by the synod fathers, which was presented at the conclusion of the synod. The letter focused on the following points
• Trust and hope in the youth.
• Acknowledgment of the youth.
• Accompanying the youth by the church.

Felicitation:
• Rev Fr. Faustine Lobo, the KRBC spokesperson and the Regional Coordinator for all commissions was felicitated during the meeting.
• Mr. Cyril Prabhu was felicitated on behalf of KRYC for his excellent service as the Regional Youth Coordinator for a short tenure.

The following were the discussion held in the council as per the agenda
1. REGIONAL YOUTH CONVENTION:
• Host: The REXCO proposed the Shimoga and Karwar dioceses for hosting the Regional Youth Convention. A team was formedby the Chairman Bishop with Rev. Fr Ronald Prakash D’Souza, DYD - Mangalore as the coordinator and Fr Pius Dsouza, DYD - Shimoga, Mr. Cyril Prabhu along with REXCO as the members.
• Theme: “Youth, Faith and Caring for Common home” was selected as the theme for the Regional Youth Convention.
• Cross Journey: The Cross Journey will be conducted prior to the RYC which will be organized by the REXCO and the DEXCO of the Dioceses of Karnataka.
• Date: The date for the RYC is finalized as 24 th to 27 th October 2019.
• Regional Cup: The Belthangady Diocese will be organizing the ‘Regional Convention Cup’ on 9 th February 2019 wherein one team from each diocese will participate. The rules and details of the event will be sent within 10 days to all the dioceses.

2. LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM: A special leadership training program on ‘Communication and Leadership’ will be organized by the REXCO on the 12 th and 13 th of January 2019 for the Diocesan office bearers and the youth.

3. CAP INDIA PROGAM: The discussions regarding the program are as follows:
• The Chairman Bishop requested all the DYD’s to promote the CAP India.
• Common centers for the examination will be setup in the future for CAP exams.
• DYD’s should see that minimum 100 registrations are done annually from each diocese.
• There was a request to add additional material to the KRYC website and all technical problems to be worked upon.

4. OTHER MATTERS:
• The council members proposed the appointing of a new RYD for which the Chairman Bishop informed the gathering that a new RYD will be available in the month May 2019.
• Chairman Bishop urged the promotion of KRYC app among the regional dioceses and requested Mr. Martin to maintain the app.
• Chairman Bishop informed the council that the managing Youth office will be done by Mr. Jai Joseph. He also requested Rev. Fr Ronald Prakash D’Souza, DYD - Mangalore and Mr. Martin to coordinate and help him.
• The next KRYC General body Meeting will be on 24 th February 2019 and proposal will be given to Bosco Youth to organize the same.
• Next ICYM Council meeting will be held in the 1 st week of July and the venue will be Host RYC diocese.

The outgoing Regional Youth coordinator Mr. Cyril Prabhu proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Sunil Dennis, Regional Male Representative compered the program.
